The Musical heart on the sleeve, it's Hot Chip
Being original at this point can often feel kinda pointless, a losing battle, and even in some cases an impossibility, which why hearing originality these days is so much more inspiring. Hated by some, adored by far more(imho), Hot Chip has been hot on the path of carving themselves into the annals of musical greatness. Considered as leaders of the British electropop sound, their new album “One life stand” continues their journey into experimental synthy slyness. The feel of Hot Chip has matured some what since their last album, and Alexis Taylors voice continues to surprise many as a true original, mixing feelings of melancholy and brightness into mountains of synth magic. This album seems to lend more emotion to it’s rhythms through the use of symphonic style compositions, toned down backbeats and as always, a decent prescription of bass. Though I have yet to pick one track in particular as per being the best, my current favorite off the album would be “Thieves in the night”, honorable mentions : “I feel better” and “Alley cats”. I strongly recommend giving this album a chance, it might not be your cup of tea, but it could very end up being the cup of what you were missing in your playlistl! I give this album a 8/10
